Curriculum
The Cornerstone Approach to Learning combines theory with practice. Our approach is developmental and adheres to the philosophy and theories of Piaget, Dewey and Vygotsky. We are also guided by appropriate educational standards set at the state and national level, and by models developed by our mentor school, Manhattan Country School.

Designing assignments and activities to fit individual interests and skill levels requires teachers' constant attention. To make this possible we keep teaching groups small, averaging less than eighteen per class in preschool through 3rd grade and 22 for grades 4-8.

Educational directors for the lower and upper schools will work closely with teachers to create and implement an integrated curriculum true to the founding principles of the school, developmentally appropriate for the child, and intellectually stimulating. We want our students to feel both challenged and nurtured so that school is a place they want to go every day.
